"Anything interesting happen today, Keiss?" Layle casually observed the people passing by at the crowdet street market. He couldn't really say he was interested, but he was bored out of his mind and running out of things to do. "It's been two weeks since our last job, you know..."
"Oh hush, I'm working on it," Keiss muttered as he scanned that morning's newspaper, "Oooo~ listen to this!"
"What is it this time? Another 'report' on the Spinosa scandal?" Layle sighed, he was tired of hearing about that, tired of being reminded of Phelia and Clockwork. Or just plain tired, he wasnt' sure these days.
"Nope," Keiss turned to his partner and winked.
"Then what?" Layle was starting to get irritated at the Selkie's nonchalant chatter, "Spill it already."
"The 'Queen Alexis II' is having her maiden voyage in two days," Keiss grinned, "and you'll never guess who's going to be on board."
"Your father?" Layle shot back.
"PFFFTT he'd sink the ship," Keiss laughed.
"Stop dancing around it and just spill it."
"Fine, you're no fun when you get like this, you know that?" the Selkie folded up his newspaper and stretched.
"Keiss."
"Okay, okay, it's none other than High Commander Jegran!" Keiss' eyes sparkled, "So naturally-"
"-we're going to be on it," Layle finished.
"Exactly," Keiss stood, "Come on, time to get Cid to put in a good word for us about our escort skills."
"You're crazy, you know that?" Layle sighed, "After all that happened with Clockwork, we'll be lucky if they even let us look at the ship."
"Awww, come on - it's easy work and it'll get me that much closer to my goal," Keiss grinned.
Layle sighed again, at least they finally found something to occupy their time, he was sick of being bored. "Escort duty, huh?" Layle shrugged, "Well, how hard can it be?"

I just felt like teasing Jade with that little story hehehe. It's already way past my bedtime so why not? another 10 minutes won't make a difference at this point. This is one of those rare paintings that turns out EXACTLY like I see it in my head. 8'D
